Knefeh

Knefeh is a rich, delicious, well known dessert made with cheese and baked in dough and soaked in syrup. Makes 8 servings.

Ingredients

  • 5 cups (1000 g) pre- packaged Knefeh dough

  • 1 kg Akkawi cheese

  • ½ kg Mozzarella cheese

  • 75 g Light Butter

Directions

  • 1.

    Cut akkawi cheese and soak it in water for 6 hours to remove saltiness.

  • 2.

    Thoroughly drain the water and mix in shredded mozzarella cheese

  • 3.

    Grease tray with butter - (round shape, diameter 27 cm)

  • 4.

    The Knefeh Dough is placed in the tray and is equally spread on the tray by hand.

  • 5.

    Add cheese (Akkawi - Mozzarella) on top of spread-out dough

  • 6.

    Place in the oven at 180°C for 7 minutes

  • 7.

    When edges of dough turn red, flip it on to a serving tray.

  • 8.

    Add Truvia Middle Easter Syrup to top.

  • 9.

    Best served hot
